Mayorkun, the Nigerian singer, says Bassey Otu, governor of Cross River, has assured him of compensation for his lost valuables in Calabar.

The singer was among the entertainers invited to perform at this year’s Calabar Carnival.

His jewellery worth millions of naira was, however, snatched from his neck.

The singer took to social media to express displeasure with the way he was treated in Calabar. He also vowed not to perform in Calabar again.

Iyanya, another singer, earlier announced the recovery of one of the stolen diamond chains belonging to Mayorkun.

In a follow-up post on X, Mayorkun said he recently met with Otu, who assured him of compensation for his lost valuables in Calabar.

“Just met with the Governor of Cross River State, H.E Prince Bassey Otu,” he wrote on Tuesday alongside a picture of himself with governor.

“He assured me that Calabar people remain very hospitable and he has also stressed that I’ll be compensated for my valuables lost.”

The songwriter also disclosed that he is still searching for his pendant. He promised a reward of N5 million to anyone who finds and returns it.

“Thank you sir 🫶🏾. Still searching for my pendant! 💎 It’s so special to me for many reasons,” he added.

“I have a N5m reward for anyone who finds and returns it. Please help spread the word! 🫶🏾
