Monalisa Chinda, Charles Inojie, Ejike Asiegbu, and Francis Duru are among the actors expected to perform in a stage play titled ‘Philomena‘ in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
‘Philomena’ is a stage play which chronicles the experiences of three characters — Wesley, a failed journalist; Philomena, a retired prostitute; and Area, a frustrated teacher.
The organisers, in a statement, said the play will hit the theater again at the Atlantic Hall, Hotel Presidential in Port Harcourt from December 29, 2022, till January 1, 2023.
Other film stars expected to perform in the stage play include Don Kester, and Tammy Abusi.
Speaking ahead of the event, Chinda, the executive producer of the project, expressed excitement at the requests for the stage play.
“Witty, satiric, the lessons, the spontaneity behind the characters make it a must-see. ‘Philomena; Interview with A Prostitute’, promises the magic of the peerless play following a very successful showing in Port Harcourt in February and Abuja in July,” she said.
‘Philomena’ was produced by Chinda, Zack Iniyedo, Bimbo Manuel, and Rekiya Ibrahim Attah.
According to the statement, the project “was inspired by an actual interview Manuel had with a stripper and is a story that was demanded to be told with humour, satire and anecdotes.”
It added that the stage play is sponsored by the River state government through the ministry of tourism and culture, and powered by Nigerian Breweries Plc.
“Tickets are available at Market square, Kilimanjaro, Sweet Tooth, Tee Bee Restaurant, Polo Club, Jevinik Restaurant, Hotel Presidential or tellerafricatickets.com at 5k, 10k and 300k for a table of 8,” the statement reads.
