The singer released the remix version of ‘Funke’ in 2018, featuring the DMW label boss and Mayorkun.

In a recent interview on HipTV, the 34-year-old recalled how he believed his big break had finally arrived after securing a feature with the two artistes.

Spyro said, that despite the song’s initial success, he found himself facing unexpected setbacks, including losing contact with his famous collaborators.

The singer said the situation made him emotional to the point of tears because he had responsibilities to take care of.

“I had a song back then, and I had Davido and Mayorkun on it. I thought my life was about to change. The song came out and it was big, and all of a sudden I went back down,” he said.

“I sat down and thought about it because how do you go from working with Davido, vibing with Mayorkun and all those guys, and all of a sudden, they do not even pick your calls anymore.

“There are times where I would just sit down on my staircase back then and I would cry. I had my parents at home that I need to take care of, alot of things were just going wrong.”

Born Olusipe David, Spyro rose to prominence after releasing the hit song ‘Who Is Your Guy’ in November 2022.

He has also put out tracks like ‘No Gree For Anybody’, ‘Billing’, ‘For You’, and ‘Funke’.
