A medical doctor, tech entrepreneur, and musician; Kelvin Alaneme fondly called Dr. Alams is a man of multidimensional enterprise. Combining the high demands of medicine with music is not a task for the faint-hearted but Alaneme is bracing the odds.
In the hospital, he is the go-to man for people’s medical needs while outside, he wears his creative cap, putting together deep lyrics for his musical projects.
The musician has a clear mission with his songs — to motivate, inspire, heal weak souls, and entertain.
In the past seven years, the graduate of the University of Nigeria (UNN) in Enugu state has been churning out singles and projects with considerable streaming figures.
In 2016, he came through with ‘Survivors’, his extended play (EP), which is all shades of beauty. In the politically conscious project, Dr. Alams emphasised the need for the government to address the plights of the masses.
The singer also released ‘Odogwu’ EP, which is a love and party-centric body of work in 2021. He thereafter released ‘Nobody Better’ EP, the sunny melody and off-the-hook-bouncy instrumental.
Love remains the dominant topic in Dr. Alams’ discography. His sometimes breathy voice is bound to swirl even the most stubborn girl into his arms.
Lyrically, Dr. Alams switches between English and Pidgin while creating his songs. His gradual sonic growth is in his five extended plays released so far.
Speaking on his foray into music, the fast-rising singer said his medical background has been instrumental to his songwriting prowess.
“Combining Medicine and Music has been hectic in some ways and easy in others. The hectic part is bringing out the time to record music, plan and shoot music videos, organize distribution and promotional campaigns,” he told TheCable Lifestyle.
“However, being a doctor provides you with a unique insight into songwriting. You understand the pain and a lot of other human emotions and can tell stories in music even from the perspective of others.”
Dr. Alams is poised to take the global music industry by storm.
When asked about artistes he would love to collaborate with, he said: “I look forward to working with Flavour, Davido and Olamide.”
Beyond releasing several amazing projects, Dr. Adams has contributed to the development of numerous talents through Ala Africa Music label, his record label.
“I think my greatest achievement so far as a musician has been discovering and pushing other talents through our Ala Africa Music label. We have signed artistes like Valdozzy, Deevy, and Zica Zoe and they have dropped amazing projects,” he added.
