For humans, forgetfulness is a normal occurrence – something which happens often. There’s always a time when we are forgetful. Like where we left our keys or when we forget a person’s name.

  • Keep Your Attention In Focus

Set up alarms and reminders on the calendar of your daily tasks and make a habit of this. 

Alternatively, ask your close friends to hold you accountable for the tasks you have to perform. This way, they’ll serve both as reminder systems and external motivators.

  • Work On Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the quality of being conscious. It is a mental state achieved by focusing on the present by maintaining awareness of one’s environment.

An effective way to increase and improve memory is to concentrate on the present situation. Pay attention to information shared at a particular then. Be careful to practice mindfulness as many times as possible especially when your mind wanders at certain points in time.

  • Sleep More Often

Sleep and rest are actively connected to memory. Sometimes, the reason a person might be forgetful is that they have not gotten enough sleep or rest.

To understand the importance of sleep in building better memory, researchers actually confirm that taking a nap after learning new information can help learn and retain the info faster and better.


Hence, the lack of sleep can negatively influence good memory.

  • Train Your Brain

Practice memory enhancing activities such as Crossword games, Chess, Checkers, and Board games to keep your mind active.

Dedicate a few hours weekly to these memory-enhancing activities to improve your concentration level, as well as problem-solving skills.

While taking note of these points, it’s important to take into consideration the fact that eating healthy also plays a vital role in general memory function.


Eating foods rich in fish-oil supplements and less added-sugar is a great direction to take health-wise.
