Shaka Momoh, the owner of Planet One, a hotel-cum-event centre in Maryland, Lagos is dead.

News of his demise came to public knowledge after prominent personalities took to Twitter to pay tributes.

Momoh was said to have died of COVID-19 at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) on Thursday.

Segun Awosanya, a human rights activist and social media figure, who confirmed the tragic news via his Twitter handle, wrote: “Lost another gem to Covid19.

“The last time we spoke it was about our intervention on his case with a financial institution. Now he is no more. Rest in peace, distinguished Shaka Momoh (Planet One). Covid is real.”

Momoh, who is renowned as a lifestyle entrepreneur in Lagos, was a graduate of business administration from Auchi polytechnic. He was also a philanthropist who dispensed his goodwill via his Baobab Foundation.

Among his other businesses are Hospitality Warehouse, a hospitality products wholesale company; Baobab Edge Limited, a lifestyle company; and Basic Information and Communications System Limited (BICS).
