FULL LIST: Seun Awogbenle appointed into UNILORIN’s advocates council

Seun Awogbenle, Nigerian author and youth advocate, has been appointed by Wahab Egbewole, the vice chancellor of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), as a member of its advocates council.

Awogbenle was inaugurated into the council alongside some other alumni of the university on Thursday.

The council is expected to promote and advance the university’s values, activities, achievements, and interests locally and internationally.

Also appointed to the council include actor Femi Adebayo; Nosa Adeyemi, the social media influencer better known as Lasisi Elenu; and Omololu Shomuyiwa, a former BBN housemate.

Others are actresses Bukola Awoyemi and Wunmi Toriola and Lukman Shobowale, the co-founder of Dukiya Investments.

Awogbenle described his appointment as “noteworthy”, adding that it presents an opportunity for him to “give back to the university and a chance to shape the experiences of the current and future generations of students”.

He also commended UNILORIN for its quality and stability, adding that the varsity’s “track record already speaks for itself”.

“I welcome my appointment to the University of Ilorin Advocates Council. I consider it the highest honour to get a chance to give back to a university that has had a tremendous impact on my life,” he said.

“The strong foundation of knowledge and character principles that I acquired at the university have proved very valuable and have remained my guiding light over the years.

“The objective of the council especially resonates with my passion for education as a core requirement for development.

“I am therefore inspired knowing that the work we will be doing on the council will shape the experience of current students and make a major difference for generations to come.

“The University of Ilorin has remained a torchbearer of hope and a symbol of what is possible within Nigeria’s tertiary education system.

“Over the last decade, the university has established itself as the university of first choice for many young people in Nigeria and the sub-region.

“I have no doubt that our work will help to strengthen and consolidate current efforts and expand the access of the university to a global audience.

“I therefore express my renewed commitment to the sustained growth and transformation of the university as a tower of excellence and beacon of light for the next generation of leaders.”
