Oyemonlan Benjamin Oseoje, the Nigerian tech entrepreneur, has urged young Africans to embrace goal-setting and proactive thinking as strategies for succeeding in the global business landscape.
In a recent statement, Oyemonlan, who is the founder of Platnova, a digital finance and lifestyle platform, encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to cultivate foresight and resilience while turning their passions into solutions that serve others.
“To be a go-getter, you must at first be a goal-setter. Do something today that your future self will thank you for,” he said.
“It’s going to be hard, but hard does not mean impossible. Instead of waiting for the opportunity, create it.
“The best way to succeed is to discover what you love and then find a way to offer it to others.”
Oyemonlan attributed his success as a multi-venture founder to a problem-solving mindset.
He explained that identifying personal challenges and building solutions around them has allowed him to consistently give value and develop new business ideas.
“I first identify a problem I may have at a particular time, then think of a viable solution. If I can solve that problem, I try to amplify it enough to reach other people like myself who need that solution,” he said.
“Because I’m constantly creating solutions to a general problem, I’m creating value and ideas for new businesses evolve naturally.”
In addition to Platnova, Oyemonlan is the co-founder of Zap.Africa, a decentralised cryptocurrency exchange, and Shortlet.app, a homegrown alternative to Airbnb tailored for African cities.
Oyemonlan also announced plans to scale Platnova into broader African and diaspora markets, with upcoming features like physical USD cards, business wallets, and AI-powered financial automation tools.
As part of his wider vision, he is launching a global talent initiative aimed at training and funding emerging African tech founders.
“We’re not just building platforms, we’re building ecosystems,” he added.
