Ruth Kadiri, the Nollywood actress and producer, has revealed the reasons behind her choice to keep her marriage out of the public eye.

During an interview on Dear Ife, the filmmaker disclosed that maintaining privacy was a mutual decision between her and her husband.

Kadiri said the decision led to an intimate wedding with only 50 guests.

The Edo-born 37-year-old actress described it as the “best decision” she ever made, adding that it has allowed her to stay grounded, protect her relationship from unnecessary scrutiny, and avoid outside influences.

She explained that the low-key approach has also shielded her husband from public pressure, allowing him to live a normal life away from the spotlight.

“I invited only 50 people to my wedding. It was exactly what we both wanted, and I didn’t want any drama around my relationship,” she said.

“I think that’s the best decision I’ve ever made because it has helped me stay grounded and define my relationship. I also don’t have external factors influencing how I relate with my spouse.

“People don’t know him, so there’s no pressure on him. He is just living his life and he doesn’t really like attention anyway.”

Kadiri clarified that she isn’t deliberately hiding her husband, noting that they attend church and public events together but since he isn’t a celebrity, many people don’t recognise him.

“For clarity, my husband is not a secret. People who know me, knows him and that’s enough,” she added.

“I’m not hiding him, we go to church and events together, people post his pictures but just because you don’t know him that’s why you can tell. My life is not as private as people think.”

Kadiri and her husband married in a private ceremony in 2019, and their union has since been blessed with two daughters.
