Ruggedman, the rapper, says he stopped supporting VeryDarkMan’s activism when he started “invading people’s private lives”.
The rapper argued that VeryDarkMan’s approach towards activism “is not logical” in a recent episode of Echoo Room.
Ruggedman also claimed that sharing secrets or private issues about people, particularly women, will only distract the activist from his objectives.
“I liked him in the beginning when he started with the whole NAFDAC number thing but when he started going personal, into people’s private lives, especially with women. That to me, he is just distracting himself,” he said.
“But it is like saying a policeman took shooting which was his last resort as the first. They will tell you but if you’re a professional you are supposed to be used to it.
“So even if somebody says something to you there is a way you should address it. Not your mama, your papa. You don’t catch me doing that but that’s is me.
“His approach is what I don’t like now. In the beginning, it was about him calling out people who sell products without a NAFDAC number, that’s amazing but now what do you hear about him?
“The Iyabo Ojo and her daughter kind of thing, that’s is why I said it is his approach I’m not okay with. So any response he gets from them is probably what he said.
“I think what he said stemmed from what I think was the Mohbad’s situation. Where he said the old retired actresses are trying to use the situation as clout. Everyone knows it was Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dikeh.
“Now you can’t say something like that I don’t expect others to respond. So if that is what happened, he started it. That’s what I meant by people’s private life.
“I love his idea, what he does but the approach now is what I don’t like. This whole women’s matter is a bit distracting, it takes people’s minds away from the good work he is doing.
“People talk more about how he is fighting women. But you know this is the day and age of social media, everyone wants to buzz so if it’s what is helping him. But I would say I loved him more when he was focused on projects like no NAFDAC number, calling out people owing and not going personal.”
VeryDarkMan is an active voice against social vices. He is also known for his controversial opinions.
He was recently in the news for criticising Jeremiah Fufeyin, the founder of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry over his “miracle soap and water”.
Ruggedman, on the other hand, started enjoying fame in the Nigerian music industry in 1999.
