Michael Olayinka, the Nigerian singer better known as Ruger, has revealed why he does not like being single.

In a recent interview with Naija FM, the singer said even if he breaks up with someone, he quickly finds a new partner because he does not like being alone.

Speaking in pidgin English, Ruger added that he values companionship, especially mutual companionship.

“Me I like the idea of a relationship. I no like to dey dey single,” he said.

“Even if I break up with a person today, tomorrow I don dey with another person naso e be.

“You know, I no like to dey dey alone. I like that companionship, make we dey companion ourselves, you get what I am saying.”

The Afrobeats star recently argued that Nigerian women are not the “best in the world”.

In June, the singer was criticised for caressing and groping some ladies at a concert in Canada.

Ruger’s rise to fame began in 2021 when he signed with D’Prince’s Jonzing World Record, an affiliate of Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records.

He has since received numerous accolades for his craft.

In 2021, he won the AFRIMA ‘Best Newcomer Award’ and then the ‘Best New Artiste’ category at the 2023 Soundcity MVP Awards.

Ruger also has two extended plays (EPs) to his name titled ‘Pandemic’ (2021) and ‘Second Wave’ (2022).

In September, he released ‘Ru The World’, his debut studio album.
