Some female students of Rivers State University (RSU) have staged a protest over the “spate of robbery attacks” on campus.
Armed with placards with various inscriptions in now-viral footage, the disgruntled students called on the varsity authorities to improve security on campus to prevent any further occurrence of such incidents in the future.
Some inscriptions on the placards read, “they robbed us in our rooms. They raped and f**gered us,” and “RSU insecurity 5 & 6”.
A lady believed to be a student also narrated how the robbers entered one of the hostels through the laundry room and attacked them.
“They entered through our laundry room broke the wall then attacked the first room which was the room close to the laundry room and a girl fought with one of them,” she wrote.
“It was the girl that helped us raise the alarm and they still didnt go. They robbed other rooms calmly doing what they were doing seriously they took alot of things phones laptops pos machine and this is not the first time cause they injured a girl, molested other girls there almost raped a girl.
“But she was on her period they took alot of things they also shot grins on the air and they have also rob! ed hostel c our neighboring hostel alot of times but nothing has been done about that we haven’t slept since 2 am cause we are scared.”
Efforts by TheCable Lifestyle to get the varsity’s spokesperson to comment on the matter proved abortive.

Girls hostel in Rivers State University was robbed by a group of boys. The students are currently protesting against this unlawful act and the school security is doing absolutely nothing about it. Pathetic! pic.twitter.com/UBNbKti38g
