Rita Edochie, Nollywood actress, has reacted amid backlash in some quarters following the demise of Ada Jesus, a comedienne.

The entertainer, whose real name is Mmesoma Mercy Obi, breathed her last on Wednesday after a protracted battle with kidney disease.

But the spotlight beamed on Edochie shortly after news of her demise broke due to an earlier face-off between the pair.

Ada Jesus had last year accused Edochie of conniving with Odumeje, controversial Onitsha-based clergyman, to stage fake miracles.

She had taken ill after the incident. But amid the drama, the actress had initially cursed the comedienne for attempting to smear her reputation.

“If I have ever asked Ada to bring someone for Odumeje for fake miracles, may I never get anything I want on this earth. But if I did not, Ada will never get up from this sickness,” she had said.

But in a recent post, the movie star said she had decided to forgive the comedienne after several pleas from friends and fans.

In the same vein, Odumeje also revealed that he had forgiven Ada Jesus.

Following her death, several Nigerians took to Twitter to call out the actress, citing her earlier remarks. A segment of users, however, dismissed claims linking Edochie to Ada Jesus’ demise.

“If there is one thing Odumeje and rita would be regreting now is them finding it difficult to forgive Ada Jesus when she came pleading. Rita Edochie will have to live with the regret of the statement she made, saying Ada will never come out from that problem. Now she is dead,” a user wrote.

“If it’s true that Ada Jesus is dead then Rita Edochie has some questions to answer,” another wrote.

But in an Instagram post on Thursday, the actress hinted that she remains unperturbed by the accusations.

“Lord Almighty made me a strong woman and that I will remain. The seed cannot be killed,” she wrote.
