The cousin of Grammy-winning music superstar Rihanna was killed on Boxing Day.
Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, 21, was shot dead while walking through a track around his house in St Michael, Barbados.
According to Nation News, he was accosted by a sole gunman who shot him multiple times before fleeing. Although Alleyne was rushed to the hospital, he was unable to make it.
Rihanna said she spent Christmas with Alleyne the day prior.
The singer, devastated, has paid tribute to her late cousin on Instagram.
“RIP cousin… can’t believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms,” she wrote.
“Never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body. Love you always man.”
Officers of the Royal Barbados Police Force are on the hunt for the shooter.
On Rihanna’s 29th birthday in February, Alleyene described her as his “source of joy and happiness”.
He had written: “Every day we are happy to have you in our lives. Happy Birthday cousin, we really love you. Your presence in my life is a source of joy and happiness. To my favorite cousin, may all your dreams and wishes come true.”
