Robyn ‘Rihanna’ Fenty, Barbadian singer and entrepreneur, on Sunday, shared a short video on Instagram that would seemingly give fans a glimpse into the sound of ‘R9’, her upcoming ninth album.
“Update: me listening to R9 by myself and refusing to release it,” she wrote accompanied with a clip, which shows a small white dog hilariously bouncing its head to House of Pain’s classic hit ‘Jump Around’.
The post, which did not mention when the album would be eventually released, has since left fans talking with many calling on the singer to come out clear on the project .
In 2018, Rihanna had hinted the album would be released this year while responding to a fan who asked for its released date.
In an interview with Vogue in October, the gifted music star did acknowledged she was under pressure to release the album.
She also talked about the album as “reggae-inspired or reggae-infused,” adding that it would be different from what fans have been used to.
“It’s not gonna be typical of what you know as reggae but you’re going to feel the elements in all of the tracks” she said.
“Reggae always feels right to me. It’s in my blood. It doesn’t matter how far or long removed I am from that culture, or my environment that I grew up in; it never leaves. It’s always the same high.
“Even though I’ve explored other genres of music, it was time to go back to something that I haven’t really homed in on completely for a body of work.”
