REWIND: In 2011, Davido begged Burna Boy for BlackBerry contact, said ‘I’m a big fan’

An old tweet in which Davido described himself as a “big fan” of Burna Boy has surfaced online and gone viral.

In the tweet from 2011, the ‘Dami Duro’ crooner also requested Burna Boy’s BlackBerry contact information.

“@burnaboylive dm ur pin…. im a big fan g,” he wrote.

The tweet resurfaced on Thursday — at about the same time when Davido labelled Burna Boy as one of Afrobeats’ “new cats”.

In a recent interview, the DMW head honcho argued that he and Wizkid were the first Nigerian artistes to place Afrobeats on the global map.

The singer added that he was excited to see “new cats” such as Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun, and Asake now excelling in the music industry.

Davido’s description of Burna Boy as a “new cat”, however, did not go down well with fans of the self-acclaimed African Giant; some of whom tackled the OBO crooner on social media.

Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido are considered to be the biggest artistes in Nigeria in contemporary times.

There has also been a long debate among their fans over who is superior.

The singers have in the past thrown digs at each other on different occasions.

But in July 2022, Wizkid offered an olive branch to Davido and Burna Boy after he downplayed the rivalry between them.

“I want to tell you tonight, Starboy, I gat love for Burna Boy, I gat love for Davido…and I want to thank you the fans for supporting us,” he said at the 2022 AfroNation music festival in Portugal.
