Having sexual intercourse in the morning is advantageous to the health, according to a new research.
Musa Yakubu, a professor at the University of Ilorin, made this known in a paper titled ‘Knocking down the Barriers to Four O’ Clock Activities and Reproductive Inadequacies’.
He noted that 20 minutes of lovemaking helps burn 150 calories while adding that early morning sex lowers blood pressure, which in turn reduces the risk of heart attack.
The biochemist also said early morning intercourse helps regulate menstruation in females.
This happens when the luteinising hormones which control menstrual cycle are influenced.
Yakubu said this enables the female to sleep much better while adding that a healthy sex life should have about three to four days of sexual intercourse.
Early morning sex also helps couples feel happier for a longer period of time and enhances the bond of closeness, said Yakubu’s paper.
This is as a result of oxytocin, the ‘feel-good’ chemical, which is released during sexual intercourse.
He advised that regular medical check-ups are needed to help regulate sexual and reproductive dysfunctions which occur in both sexes.
