Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and was buried the following day. However, on September 21, 2023, his body was exhumed by the police for an autopsy.

In May 2024, the pathologist in charge of the autopsy revealed that the cause of death could not be determined due to the decomposition of his body.

A toxicology report obtained by TheCable in June 2024 showed that Diphenhydramine, an antihistamine, was found in his system. However, it was not in a lethal concentration.

The singer’s family rejected the results and applied for an independent autopsy, citing suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

The coroner’s court in Ikorodu, Lagos granted the family permission to conduct a private autopsy and toxicology tests.

Monisola Odumosu, a member of the Aloba legal team, said a two-part autopsy was being conducted. She said the first part had been completed, and the second involved toxicology and histology tests.

On Friday, PUNCH quoted a family source as revealing that the results had been ready since December.

“The private autopsy has been concluded and the result is currently with the forensic pathologist contracted by the family. The result was ready since December and the pathologist is waiting to present it in court,” the source said.

Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, has been vocal about his demands for justice, calling for the police to probe the singer’s wife Omowunmi, and for a DNA test to be conducted on their son Liam.
