Remi Tinubu, the wife of President Bola Tinubu, has showcased the first harvest from her home garden in Abuja.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the first lady also urged Nigerians to start growing their food.
The president’s wife shared photos of herself holding a basket of green vegetables.
Remi said it “does not take much effort” to grow food while encouraging Nigerians to embrace agricultural practices.
She argued that this would help to improve food security and sufficiency in Nigeria.
“We need to start growing the food we eat, it does not take much effort,” the post reads.
“Nigerians have been encouraged to embrace agriculture to enhance food security and sufficiency.
“This came from the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu after showcasing the first harvest from her home garden in Abuja.
“She was of the opinion that the efforts put into creating a garden in the home would be worth it especially when the harvests are realized.”

The first lady’s post has triggered reactions on social media, with several users arguing that growing vegetables alone would not solve the broader issues in Nigeria. Others also doubted the time frame between planting and harvesting the vegetables.
