Ajayi was taken into police custody in Nasarawa last week after he was allegedly found with the severed head of Salome Adaidu in a polythene bag.

The incident occurred in Agwan Sarki, Orozo, near the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Last Friday, a high court in Nasarawa remanded Ajayi at the Lafia correctional centre for alleged homicide.

He was arraigned on a one-count charge of culpable homicide punishable with death. The court also held that Ajayi be remanded until a formal arraignment is scheduled later.

In an interview with Channels TV, Sunday pleaded with the Nigerian government to intervene and help his family resolve the matter.

“I want the government to help me. Make them settle the matter. Help me beg the people,” he said.

However, Dorcas, Timileyin’s mother, who seemed resigned to the situation, said the government could proceed with its decision.

“Anything government wants to do. Everything is in their hands,” she said.

On Wednesday, Ajayi confessed to murdering Adaidu in a fit of anger after discovering she allegedly cheated on him. He also revealed he does not feel remorseful about killing his girlfriend.

The remains of Adaidu were buried last Monday.
