Reekado Banks has fired back at an online critic who dismissed him as a “failed artiste” after seeing him attend a church service.
The incident began when popular content creator Toheeb Okala, known as Kesari, shared his journey toward spiritual growth online.
Kesari revealed that he wanted to become a better person and asked his followers for advice on choosing between Christianity and Islam.
In subsequent posts, he documented his first-ever visit to a church, accompanied by the singer Reekado Banks.
Photos and videos showed the two men walking into the church, praying, and singing together.
However, in a now-viral video, Reekado Banks revealed that a comment from a user who mocked him for going to church caught his attention.
The ‘Easy’ hitmaker expressed his frustration with the post while also questioning the critic’s logic.
He further challenged the X user to suggest a better alternative than seeking God.
“Yesterday, I invited Kesari to church. And today I am seeing it everywhere on Twitter. And a comment under one of the posts was ‘when they fail at music they start to go to church’. Na your house make I come? Shey the ogunme dey your house make I subscribe?” he asked.
The singer also hurled abusive words at the critic in a follow-up video.
Born Ayodeji Solomon, Banks signed with Mavin Records in 2014. He, however, left the label four years later.
He released his debut album ‘Spotlight’ on September 1, 2016.
Banks was named Rookie of the Year at The Headies 2014. He also won the ‘Next Rated’ award at The Headies 2015.
In July, the singer released his sophomore album titled ‘The Game Needs You’.
