A now-viral video showed the moment at least three men ambushed the 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, inside the bathroom of the fitness gym.

The controversial hip-hop star was beaten to a pulp before his attackers fled the scene.

Police and ambulance services were called to the scene of the incident after the manager of the facility heard the commotion.

Hernandez was thereafter taken to a local hospital in an ambulance.

According to TMZ, Lance Lazzaro, 6ix9ine’s attorney, said the rapper tried his best to fight off his attackers, but there were too many of them.

The rapper’s counsel added that he did not have security with him at the time of the attack.

Lazzaro said he plans to reach out to authorities to ensure Hernandez gets protection.

Hernandez was arrested and sentenced to two years in prison in 2019 on nine charges, including racketeering, drug trafficking, and firearm offenses in relation to his involvement with the Nine Trey Bloods gang.

He was released from federal prison in April 2020 after cooperating with US authorities to ensure several of his gang members get arrested and imprisoned.

It, however, remains to be seen if the gym attack had anything to do with the rapper’s cooperation with US authorities.
