Shan George, the Nollywood actress, has entered the ongoing social media feud between Yvonne Jegede, her colleague, and Nedu, the radio personality.
Jegede recently appeared on the Honest Bunch podcast, hosted by Nedu, where she made controversial remarks about polygamy.
The actress argued that it was “hypocritical” for the same people supporting Ned Nwoko’s polygamous marriages to criticise that of Yul Edochie.
The comments sparked backlash, leading Jegede to apologise to May Edochie, Yul’s estranged wife.
In what seemed like a response to Jegede’s remarks, Nedu posted on his Instagram story: “If you talk, use your chest and stand by your words.”
He also stated through his management that Jegede was not coerced into making any remarks on the podcast.
Nedu urged Jegede to stop her “defamatory attacks and vitriolic rhetoric” and refrain from playing the victim.
Weighing into the matter, George took to Instagram on Thursday to defend Nedu, arguing that he did nothing wrong by interviewing Jegede.
She added that Jegede should have been more “mindful of her words” during the podcast.
“The truth is that you have a right to speak out, stand to be corrected, and apologise when you offend. And that is what Yvonne has done. And there is no need to be escalating the issue,” she said.
“What Nedu has done is do his job. Nedu’s own is to ask you questions; to make you speak out. So at the end of the day, he has not done anything wrong. It is your duty to mind your words.
“But if you speak wrongly like we all do sometimes, then you apologise.”
