Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, the Nigerian rapper better known as Phyno, has welcomed his first child.
The 36-year-old singer shared a picture of himself holding his newborn via Instagram on Monday.
The rapper, who had been on a short music hiatus, said he “took some time off to be a father”.
He added that he has been working on a music project while describing the experience as “wholesome”.
“I took some time off to be a Father and also work on new music / Album and it’s been a wholesome experience. Now it’s time to get back to what I do best ❤️,” he wrote.
Phyno, however, did not reveal when and with whom he had the child.
He also did not reveal the gender of the baby.
A plethora of celebrities and well-wishers have flooded the comment section of the post to extend their congratulations to the rapper.
Phyno started his career as a producer in 2003 and is renowned for rapping in the Igbo language. He also combines a bit of Nigerian Pidgin and English.
He has performed with artistes such as Wizkid, Davido, Timaya, Flavour, Ruggedman, Bracket, J. Martins, and Mr Raw.
Phyno once said he spits his bars in his dialect because he respects his culture and loves being himself.
He has received several awards and recognitions for his craft.
