Ruth Otabor, sister of BBNaija Season 7 winner Phyna, has been laid to rest in Ogun state.
Ruth, 24, died on August 31 after battling complications from an August 13 accident in Auchi, Edo state, where a Dangote truck rammed into her near Auchi Polytechnic.
She had graduated from the institution just six days earlier.
The accident left her with multiple injuries, including a leg amputation.
Despite medical interventions and plans for advanced treatment abroad, Ruth succumbed to her injuries weeks later.
On Saturday, her remains were moved from Ebony Mortuary in Ikoyi to the family home in Ogijo, Ogun state, where she was buried.
A circulating video from the burial showed a grieving Phyna, dressed in black and dark shades, flanked by ex-BBNaija housemates Christy O and Groovy, who joined family and friends to console her.
At the graveside, she fought back tears as relatives urged her to pour sand into her sister’s grave in a final farewell.
The burial flyer read: “Miss Ruth Bodon Otabor, born May 24, 2001 – died August 31, 2025. Burial service, September 13, Ewuoloye Itasanni Ikorodu, Ogijo, Ogun State”.
The tragedy has drawn public sympathy, as Phyna had previously accused the Dangote Group of failing to hold those responsible accountable.
In response, the company said it had covered Ruth’s medical expenses, provided financial support, and was preparing to fly her to India for further treatment before her death.
