Stefflon Don, British rapper and newfound partner to Burna Boy, has joined DJ Jimmy Jatt; Ice Prince; and a host of others in celebration of the Afro-fusion artiste’s BET Awards win.
Burna Boy emerged the ‘Best International Act’ at the just concluded 2019 award event, having been nominated alongside Nigeria’s Mr Eazi; UK’s Giggs; Desseh from France; Dave from the UK; South Africa’s AKA; and Aya Nakamura from France.
While speaking at the celebratory event which held at Quilox, a popular club in Victoria Island, Lagos, Burna Boy expressed gratitude to fans and colleagues for their support over the course of his career.
“Thank you, everyone, for supporting me and standing by me all these years. As Africans, we need to stick together and have a unified voice. This BET award is for Nigeria and Africa,” he said.
Bada Akintunde-Johnson, country manager at Viacom International Media Networks Africa (VIMN) Africa, congratulated Burna Boy for his career masterstrokes.
“We are indeed ecstatic to celebrate Burna Boy and his incredible win at the BET Awards today. This win further reiterates the fact that Nigerian music is a force to be reckoned with in the global industry and cannot be overlooked,” he said.
“We at VIMN Africa are particularly keen on sharing the reimagined African story to the world through music and we feel very strongly about starting conversations and actions that move us closer and closer to the realities we all desire.”
The celebration also had in attendance Sammy Walsh, Ernest Rabbi Audu, Larry Gaga, Sensei Uche, Nenny B, among other renowned artists.
