Oreoluwa Aina, a 28-year-old corps member who died in the accident involving a train and a staff bus in Lagos state, has been buried.

On March 9, a train collided with a Lagos state staff bus conveying workers in the Shogunle area of Oshodi.

Witnesses at the scene said the bus was attempting to cross the rail track when an oncoming train rammed into it and dragged the bus from Shogunle to the PWD area of Ikeja.

The incident left six people — including Aina — dead while many others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The corps member was buried amid tears on Saturday.

Until her death, the corps member was serving with the curriculum services department of the Lagos state ministry of education in Alausa, Ikeja.

In now-viral viral photos, family members as well as fellow corps members were seen paying their last respects to to Aina.

Folasade Adefisayo, the state commissioner for education, led a delegation of the state government to the burial.

Yetunde Baderinwa, Lagos coordinator for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), also attended the burial.

On Sunday, Akin Abayomi, the state commissioner for health in Lagos, said 53 survivors of the incident have been discharged from various hospitals.

The driver of the BRT bus had earlier blamed the incident on mechanical faults.
