Daniel Ikechi, a contestant in the sixth edition of Nigerian Idol, has been eliminated from the show.

Last week, Daniel had performed ‘Good Morning’ by Brymo, but his delivery was not enough to propel him to the top 7.

His elimination followed last week’s eviction of Clinton Francis, who could not make it into the top 8.

Meanwhile, last night, the contestants were instructed to perform their favourite hit songs from the year they were born.

Beyonce Ajomiwe stunned the audience with a rendition of ‘Unfaithful’, Rihanna’s 2004 hit, while Comfort mesmerised the judges with Christina Aguilera’s ‘Beautiful’.

Atela Francis’ soulful performance of Bryan Adams’ rock classic ‘Please Forgive Me’ left the judges speechless for a few seconds.

Kingdom, distinguished for his vocal prowess, gave a stunning performance of ‘Unbreak my heart’ by Toni Braxton.

Akunna sang ‘How Do I Live’, LeAnn Rimes’ 1997 hit,  while Emmanuel closed the night with a stellar performance of Seal’s ‘Kiss From A Rose’.

In the usual manner, one or two of the top 7 Nigerian Idol contestants may be eliminated during next week’s live show.
