In a series of tweets on Wednesday, the ‘Ye’ crooner claimed that he’s the one who paved the way and brought Afrobeat genre to the mainstream where it is currently enjoying the western recognition.

Burna Boy, who lost the 2020 Grammy Award for the ‘Best World Music Album’ to Angelique Kidjo, a Beninese singer-songwriteralso called out his colleagues for being “pretentious”.

His comments, however, did not go down well with users on social media especially Twitter. Quite a number of users have since taken to the microblogging platform to register their annoyance.
