Davido, the Nigerian musician, has slammed Bamidele Adeleke, his cousin, for declaring interest to contest for the forthcoming governorship election in Osun state.

Residents of the state will go to the polls in July to decide who governs the state for the next four years.

The Adeleke family has been in the spotlight ahead of the much-awaited election.

Ademola Adeleke, the former senator and uncle to Davido, had contested the 2018 governorship election but lost to Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The ex-lawmaker earlier indicated his interest to run again for the state’s top office. Ademola is also among aspirants vying to clinch the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The drama started when Bamidele, who is also a member of the PDP, announced interest to contest the election — a development which means the duo from the same family will battle each other to secure the main opposition party’s gubernatorial ticket ahead of the polls.

This has continued to ignite controversies in the Adeleke family and the PDP in the state, with opinions divided.

Reacting to the drama on Tuesday, Davido, who is believed to be supporting Ademola, slammed Bamidele over his gubernatorial ambition.

In a Twitter post, the ‘OBO’ crooner claimed his cousin “struggled to graduate with second class lower from the varsity.”

The musician also alleged that Bamidele has “not succeeded in building one single thing in his life on his own.”

Davido then enjoined the people of Osun to beware of who they support in the forthcoming guber election.

“Wonderful! Me I finished uni with a 2:1. But it’s now cousin dele who struggled to even get a 2:2 that is now forming “intellectual”. Intellectual that has not succeeded in building one single thing in his life on his own. This life ehn! Osun beware of fakes! @deleadeleke001,” he wrote.

Bamidele is yet to react to the singer’s tweet as of the time of this report.
