Davido has reacted to a viral video where Ademola Adeleke bragged he could surpass the financial strength of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adeleke, who is a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had boasted of having enough money both in naira and foreign currencies to swing the governorship election in Osun state.
He spoke in a short clip while addressing some members of the PDP in Osogbo during the weekend.
The PDP candidate boasted that he was more prepared for the 2022 governorship race than in 2018 when Adegboyega Oyetola defeated him.
“Osun people, you are the ones to decide. If it is about money, I have enough. I came with plenty of money. And it is not only naira; I came with dollars, pounds, and euros. This time in Osun, it is fire for fire,” he said in Yoruba.
Reacting, Davido posted the video on his Instastory with the vague caption, “Fire for fire, Kpa for Kpa”.
Davido has been quite public about the political rivalry in Osun on social media, with the singer recently mocking Bamidele Adeleke, his cousin.
Earlier, Davido had spoken about how he can’t avoid politics, something he said was imbued in him.
Asked if he sees himself doing politics, Davido said on another occasion that he fears tainting his legacy.
“Not with the way everything is [distorted] now. They’ll just give you headaches. These old men [ruling] can’t even work. They’re tired, yet won’t let go of the country. I’m not trying to be in that kind of government,” he had replied.
