Speaking on the WithChude podcast, the Beat FM presenter reflected on his personal and professional journey, admitting that navigating depression has been a complex experience.

“Funny thing about depression is that you never know what is triggering it,” he said.

“That is why for the longest time I don’t know how to live by myself. It’s almost like you’re stripped naked and you confront everything you’re not trying to confront. I’m scared of success because it’s a prison.”

Osi said he believes media professionals in Nigeria are underpaid compared to peers in other parts of the world, despite the work they put in.

“I don’t think media people are paid well enough. I don’t think we are when we compare ourselves to our counterparts,” he added.

The on-air personality, who argued that he may be the only presenter on Beat FM to have done every slot across the station’s programming belts, also revealed his ambition beyond media.

“One thing I want to do but haven’t done is to run for office,” he said.

Speaking on his most memorable interviews, Osi named Burna Boy and Ghanaian singer Shatta Wale as standout guests.

He said Burna Boy’s artistry and confidence struck him long before his global rise.

“They stand out,” he said. “And everytime I interviewed Burna Boy on the radio I use to marvel at the depth of the knowledge that he had as regards everything.

“What amazes me about his art how he finds a way to just connect with the realities of things going on.

“When he speaks, I wouldn’t say he’s speaking from a place of hurt or anything. But you see that he’s so expressive.

“I have not seen anybody has passionate as regards to the quality of talent that he has like Burna Boy.

“He came to the studio the last time I interviewed him and he didn’t sit down, he was standing. I knew that he was going to be where he is today because of how he carried himself.”
