Osas Ighodaro, the Nigerian actress, has revealed how losing her mother transformed her life.
Ighodaro lost her mother in November 2020.
However, the cause of her mother’s death was not disclosed.
In an Arise TV interview, the actress explained that her mother’s passing made her realise the value of self-care and self-expression.
She stated that it led her to embrace life more fully, live authentically, and find happiness in every moment.
Ighodaro added that she is only now prioritising her well-being and joy rather than worrying about others’ opinions.
“I know a transition happened for me because I used to be in my head a lot and I used to worry about what people thought about me a lot,” she said.
“But when I went through the experience of losing my mum in 2020, I said I am going to live my life and I’m going to the the best that I can be and I want to represent her legacy to the best of my abilities.
“It has been free since then, I have been living life and being happy and enjoying every moment; whether it is good or bad. You either learn from it or enjoy it and that is how I live my life.
“A lot of people come up to me and say ‘I love your dancing,’ and that is part of the freedom for me. I used to be so self-conscious before but who cares at this point, I am a thespian but I am also someone who loves life and loves to travel and enjoy herself and dance.”
