Olakunle Churchill, estranged husband of Tonto Dikeh, has petitioned Mohammed Adamu, the inspector general of police (IGP), over her alleged illegal sale of their Toyota Prado SUV.
In the petition dated April 4, and submitted to the office of the IGP through Ace Solicitors, his counsel, Churchill accused the actress of forging the ownership of the N22 million-valued vehicle and eventually selling it.
According to Churchill, the vehicle had been acquired for domestic use through Big Church Group, an organisation he chairs, but Tonto Dikeh made away with it and sold it off to some unknown persons after their divorce.
“The car was bought for domestic use of the family, particularly in view of the fact that Ms Tonto Dikeh-Churchill (as she then was) had just put to bed,” the petition read in part.
“The car was bought in the name of our client’s company as a result of the partnership our client’s company had with Toyota at the material time.
“When the marriage broke down irretrievably, Miss Tonto Dikeh made away with the said vehicle and sold the vehicle to unknown person(s).
“This is without the consent of our client or the company, and without a proper paper work and change of ownership.
“Sir, this complaint has become imperative not for the purpose of recovering the said vehicle from Tonto Dikeh or any third party, but for record and documentation purposes.
“It is to absolve our client and Big Church Group Limited of any liability in the event of the said vehicle being used for any illegal purpose, as our client is not aware of who the vehicle was sold to.”
In response to the accusations leveled against her, Tonto Dikeh took to her Instagram page to maintain that Churchill never got a car in her name as a gift.
“Little by little the truth is coming out and will all come out. When I came out to say it was a lie, that I wasn’t bought any car, This man was ranting on every blog that He bought a car in my name,” she wrote.
“I never got a gift and never was any car bought in my name as a gift.”
