Google has honoured the Nigerian playwright better known as Ola Rotimi with a doodle on his 84th posthumous birthday.
The Google doodle is a special alteration of the logo on Google’s homepage to commemorate special holidays, events, achievements, and people.
Rotimi, one of Nigeria’s foremost dramatists, was a renowned playwright, director, actor, choreographer and designer.

Rotimi was born into an art-inclined family; his father was the organiser of a community theatre while his mother managed a traditional dance group.
The iconic writer is known for reflecting Nigeria’s rich culture, diversity, and local traditions in his works.
Some of his celebrated and award-winning works include ‘The Gods Are Not to Blame’, ‘Our Husband Has Gone Mad Again’, and ‘Kurunmi’.
Rotimi was born in 1938 and passed away on August 18, 2000, at the age of 62.
