Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former minister of finance, has lauded Omoni Oboli for her creative portrayal of societal issues bothering on girl child marriage and education in her latest movie, ‘Wings of a Dove’.
Okonjo-Iweala, who was among those who had a private screening of the film in Washington, recommended the movie for policymakers and international advocates, while celebrating Audu Maikori, CEO of Chocolate City.
“In Washington with two of Nigeria’s very talented and creative artistes Omoni Oboli award-winning actress and filmmaker, and Audu Maikori CEO Chocolate City at a screening of Oboli’s Wings of a Dove a deeply moving feature on child brides and young girls quest for education in parts of Nigeria and West Africa,” the former minister wrote on Facebook.
“A must see for policymakers and international advocates who want to make change!”
In response, Oboli took to her Instagram page to appreciate the ex-minister’s unflinching support towards her work. She also praised Audu Maikori for his role as “adviser and project manager’ in the movie production.
“Who’s awake o?!!!Guess who got a private screening and endorsed our movie WINGS OF A DOVE? Yup! Our very own Mrs Ngozi Okonjo Iweala. I can’t say thank you enough. Aunty Ngozi has always believed in me and my work right from my very first film. I had an opportunity to do some work for her in the past,” the actress wrote.
I had the option of eating most of the money and just doing business as usual but I decided to go over and beyond to deliver a world class production. She was wowed and has been firmly in my corner since then. Your work will speak for you so make sure your work is the best you can do!
I can’t tell you what her endorsement of this project means. Thanks @audumaikori for your role as adviser and project manager. Couldn’t do it without you!”
