Nude photos: Charles Okocha threatens lawsuit as Belinda Effah falls victim of blackmail

Charles Okocha, a Nollywood actor, has threatened legal action against an individual who shared a picture in which he was visibly edited and merged with that of a naked woman.

The 35-year-old hip-hop rapper took to his Instagram page to issue the threat on Tuesday, while resharing the picture, which bore a satirical caption, and warning that “some persons have started to joke too much.”

Although he didn’t reveal who was responsible for the image or how he had obtained it, Okocha’s threat comes about the same time when Belinda Effah, an actress, also decried another nudity blackmail.

The 30-year-old movie star said an unidentified individual had emailed her, threatening to release nude pictures of her “edited from a photograph” she had shared on Instagram in August 2019.

Belinda, however, advised the blackmailer to harness their intelligence towards achieving greater good rather than bully a fellow citizen who is equally struggling to survive amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“Some hungry Nigerian superimposed these pictures I posted in August 2019 while filming at Inagbe resort with some naked body and sent by mail to me,” she wrote.

“They said they want to make me trend by exposing my nudes to different blogs if I don’t settle them. These are hard times for Nigerians that they waste intelligence on blackmailing people.

“Are you for real? Is this how hungry you guys have become? Do you now seek to blackmail innocent citizens who are also struggling for survival just like you?

“I maintain my peace and I value my peace and quiet. I ask that you do the same. I’m not the cause of your problems. If you have issues please take it to the right authorities, the government.”

Ever since serial lockdowns took effect across states in Nigeria to contain the spread of COVID-19, the country has witnessed attacks and robberies alongside internet blackmails.

Toke Makinwa, a television host, and Tacha, a BBNaija 2019 housemate, had earlier lashed out at unidentified individuals threatening to release similarly edited nude photos.

This is coming weeks after Salawa Abeni, a veteran singer, had exposed a man who threatened to release a slew of her old nude pictures online if she didn’t yield to his demand.
