“My novel, ‘Who Fears Death’, has been optioned by HBO and is now in early development as a TV series with George R.R. Martins as executive producer,” she wrote.
Based on the Nebula Award-nominated novel written by Nnedi Okorafor in 2010, the story takes place in a fictionalised post-apocalyptic future version of Sudan, where the light-skinned Nuru oppresses the dark-skinned Okeke, looking to wipe them off the map for good.
The novel won the 2011 World Fantasy Award for best novel as well as the Carl Brandon Kindred Award in 2010 for outstanding work of speculative fiction dealing with race and ethnicity.
R.R. Martin wrote ‘A Song of Ice and Fire,’ a fantasy novel series which was adapted into Game of Thrones by HBO.
