The lady commenced her attempt on December 3 at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Port Harcourt. She is expected to conclude her nearly five-day quest on December 7.

Ibikunle is attempting the exercise using only a needle and thread, rather than a sewing machine. She said the aim is to showcase her “craftsmanship and unstoppable determination”.

“I’m gearing up for something extraordinary—a Guinness World Record attempt for the Longest Sewing Marathon, done entirely by hand!” she said.

Ibikunle is not the first Nigerian to attempt this record. In July 2023, Edmond Peace attempted to set the record in 170 hours but suspended it after a few hours.

Currently, there is no record holder for the longest sewing marathon in the prestigious British reference book.
