Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia, has said that it will soon start granting automatic employment to higher national diploma students who graduate with good grades.
Ibrahim Dauda, the director of the consultancy unit of the polytechnic, made this known on Monday during an interview with NAN.
He said that the job offer was to encourage students to study well.
The director said the offer was aimed at boosting the performance of the students to justify the value the polytechnic attaches to its certificates that would be awarded to the students on the completion of their programmes.
Dauda added that the unit had commenced full national diploma programme 13 years after it was established.
He said the introduction of the programme had become necessary to augment the carrying capacity of the polytechnic’s regular programmes.
He said that before institution started the current academic session, the unit was only offering ordinary diploma in all its programmes.
He said this had posed a serious challenge to its graduates who had wanted to gain admission for further their studies.
Dauda also said that the unit was planning to introduce part-time ND and HND programmes that would span three years instead of the two years for regular ND programme.
He further said that lecturers who extort money from students in exchange for marks would be sanctioned.
“Any staff in this unit that is caught collecting money from students as gratification or under any guise will face the full wrath of the law,” he said.
“Also, any students caught offering money or any gift as gratification to any staff of the unit to get favour will, equally, be sanctioned.”
He stressed that the unit had zero tolerance for corruption and warned those in the habit to desist.
