StarTimes Nigeria has announced that the maiden edition of the Naija Star Search reality show will commence on September 4.

The music reality show which aims at sustaining the Afrobeats culture and nurturing young talent is an initiative of StarTimes in association with Kennis Music.

Naija Star Search will see the contestants showcase their singing prowess while battling for the grand prize of N10 million.

Furthermore, the top seven finalists from the show would be groomed by the Kennis Music label and given a platform to turn their raw talents into superstars.

Kenny ‘Keke’ Ogungbe, the head judge of the show, revealed that over 4,000 contestants had sent in their entries for the competition.

He added that 364 candidates made it to the physical audition while 18 of them had been shortlisted as participants for the main show.

According to Mohammed Yahaya, the production manager, the contestants will be kept in the house where they will receive training on vocals, songwriting, and producing.

The reality/music show will premiere by 8 pm on September 4 on StarTimes and will run for a duration of two months.

It will be hosted by VJ Adams, while ID Cabasa, the Nigerian music producer, and Asha Gangali will join Kenny Ogungbe as judges on the show.
