Mr Macaroni has called out Bashir Ahmad, former aide to ex-President Buhari, over his comments towards Rahama Saidu, the TikToker who criticised the Kano governor after her shop was demolished — and later burned.

The controversy started when a part of Saidu’s shop was demolished by the Kano Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA).

KNUPDA claimed the structure was illegally built on public pathways, violating city planning laws.

A few hours later, the demolished shop was seen engulfed in flames, though the cause of the fire remains unknown.

Reacting to the fire incident, Ahmad faulted Saidu for calling out the governor, saying it was “completely wrong”.

He also described the burning of her shop as “condemnable and ridiculous”, while calling on the Kano government to ensure justice is served.

“I honestly didn’t want to say anything about this Rahama Saidu’s issue. What she did was completely wrong, she shouldn’t have called out the Governor’s name in that manner,” he wrote via X.

“However, the treatment she received afterward, especially the burning of her shop, is absolutely ridiculous and condemnable. Nothing can justify such an act.

“I sincerely hope the Kano Government will intervene, ensure justice is served, and the perpetrators are held accountable.”

Macaroni, however, faulted Ahmad for implying it was wrong for a citizen to criticise the governor who is ” a public servant”.

In a post via X, the actor argued that Ahmad’s message failed to directly condemn the destruction of Saidu’s property, but appeared to blame her for expressing her frustrations.

“This is a former Presidential Media aide who has OON attached to his name telling the world that it is wrong for a citizen to criticize the Governor who is a public Servant,” he wrote.

“There is no justification for the destruction of Rahama Saidu’s properties!!! And the first part of Bashir’s message blames the victim instead of outrightly condemning the attack!

“So a citizen expressing her frustrations is justification for the destruction of her properties? Do the people no longer have the right to express themselves?

“You love to defend oppression when it affects others but turn around to condemn it when it affects you. Despicable!”
