Debo Adebayo, a Nigerian comedian better known as Mr Macaroni, has taken a swipe at Atiku Abubakar, former vice-president, for describing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as “the best friend Nigeria could have.”
Atiku had in a Twitter thread on Monday argued that when compared with other political parties, the PDP remains the only one that “believes in Nigeria.”
The former presidential candidate also claimed that the major opposition party “has much to offer all parts” of the country, while urging Nigerians to keep faith in the PDP.
“The Peoples Democratic Party is the best friend Nigeria could have. All geopolitical zones deserve a political party that believes in Nigeria and not a party that believes otherwise,” he wrote.
“The @OfficialPDPNig has much to offer all parts of Nigeria, and I urge all Nigerians in all zones to keep faith with a party that has kept faith with Nigeria and will be equitable to all.”
The comedian, however, jumped on the comment section of the post to oppose Atiku’s claim. He then argued that the opposition party is not different from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The entertainer said the fact that Atiku himself was previously a member of the APC was indicative of the fact that the two major political parties are of the “same circle.”
“The PDP and APC have failed the Nigerian youths woefully!!! All of you belong to the same WhatsApp group!! You were APC yesterday, you are PDP today. Same circle!!! You all led us to where we are today and it is a shame!” he wrote.

The development comes days after a Twitter user had linked the comedian and two other prominent #EndSARS activists to Atiku — a development that stirred heated controversies.
