Joseph Aloba, the father to Mohbad, the late singer, has accused Omowunmi, his son’s wife, of threatening to kill him.
Born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, and was buried the following day.
The circumstances surrounding his death have continued to stir up controversies.
On September 21, Mohbad’s body was exhumed by the police. An autopsy was carried out that same day after which the police announced that they were awaiting the results.
There were calls for the release of Mohbad’s body for burial, but Aloba kicked against it.
He also requested for a DNA test to be conducted to find out the paternity of Liam, Mohbad’s son with Omowunmi.
In a recent interview on MAX FM, Aloba alleged that concerning the DNA test, Omowunmi has been “threatening to kill me”.
He said he is shocked that Femi Falana, her counsel, is “aware” of the alleged threat and has kept silent.
“And when you are talking about this autopsy delaying and some other things, it can result in denial. I do not trust anybody,” he said.
“Even with the threats that Falana and his client used to threaten me, I was unable to sleep. I need help. I want people to support me because the autopsy is going to be done…
“Another thing is I don’t know where to live now. Yesterday when I heard somebody knocking at the gate I was scared that maybe it was those people that Wunmi said should come and kill me. Falana was still by her side.
“You did not hear the threatening call when I was at the mountain till the evening time. When I just off phone, she used strange lines to call me, saying she can kill me. If anything happens… And I recorded the whole thing.
“Falana was aware of this. He was still standing by her side.”
Last November, the Lagos coroner court sitting heard that the key aspect of the autopsy to determine the cause of death of Mohbad is being conducted in the United States.
