Abdullahi Bala, former deputy vice-chancellor Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, Niger state, has been appointed as the seventh vice-chancellor.
Bala, on Friday, spoke about in his new position saying he would uphold the values and principles of the institution, encourage and nurture hard work and serve his purpose transparently.
Bala said he intends using his administration to improve internally generated revenue so as to support funds from the government.
He said: “We shall take decisions that are in the best interest of the university. We shall work assiduously and dispassionately towards assembling the best team to realise our set objectives.”
Musbau Akanji, the outgoing VC in his valedictory speech, commended the school for its choice saying Bala is the right man for the job.
Akanji said he would be leaving the institution as a fulfilled man.
The institution is ranked 5th among specialised universities in Nigeria and 45th out of 4,245 in Africa.
