The king of pop earned $400 million in the past one year, according to Forbes‘ annual ranking of highest-paid dead celebrities.
According to the report, Jackson tops the list courtesy of the sale of his EMI Music Publishing stake.
His Mijac Music catalogue, a Sony record deal and TV special, Michael Jackson’s Halloween, contributed to his earnings.
Elvis Presley comes second behind Jackson with $40 million in earnings while golf legend Arnold Palmer earned $35 million to nail down the number three spot.
Dr. Seuss, Hugh Hefner, Marilyn Monroe, Prince, John Lennon, XXXTentacion, Muhammad Ali, Bettie Page are also included in the top 13 highest-paid dead celebrities.
Jackson is said to have earned $2.4 billion in earnings since his death.
In arriving at its figures, Forbes considers pretax earnings from October 1, 2017 to October 1, 2018, before deducting fees for agents, managers, lawyers and estate executors.
