Jude ‘MI’ Abaga, the ace rapper, has revealed why he prefers to raise his children in Nigeria instead of the United States.
In a recent interview on the Japa Diaries podcast, the ‘One Naira’ hitmaker explained that Nigeria offers a supportive environment for raising children because of its strong family structure when compared to the often more demanding lifestyle in the United States.
While the rapper and his wife Eniola Mafe, who are based in the US, have found their comfort in Nigeria, he also expressed a desire for his children to experience a balance of both worlds.
“There are a lot of things appealing about home, especially because we’re already ingrained in that system and because there’s a lot of support as well. I feel it’s very difficult for parents here,” he said.
“But if you have family, have enough people who can stay at home and support you. But it’s not easy.
“Our family over here are all professionals. Sometimes you just find your nook in Nigeria.
“I think we’ve sort of found a space in Nigeria, but definitely, you want your kids to have a mixture of both.
“Maybe it’s something like early years here and then, at a certain point, move. There are some good things about Nigeria, so maybe in the early years.”
The rapper tied the knot with Mafe in September 2022, months after getting engaged to her. They are yet to have children together.
