Mountain Top Chorale, one of the choir groups of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), has won two gold medals at the 2024 World Choir Games in Auckland, New Zealand.
The World Choir Games –often referred to as the ‘Olympics of chorale music’ — is the largest global choral festival and competition celebrating the rich tapestry of choristers music from around the globe.
This year’s event had more than 11,000 singers from over 30 countries that participated in the competition in Auckland.
The MFM Mountain Top Chorale competed in categories C19 which is the ‘contemporary music mixed voices’ and C22 which is ‘spiritual’
They secured 88.13 and 83.38 points in both categories, earning them the two gold medals.
Reacting to the win via Facebook, Daniel Olukoya, the MFM general overseer, lauded the contest organizers for “celebrating the rich tapestry of choral music”.
“The World Choir Games is a prestigious international competition that celebrates the rich tapestry of choral music from around the globe that fosters global harmony through song,” he said.
In a subsequent post, Olukoya also congratulated the church choir on the feat.
“Congratulations to @mountaintopchorale who won two gold medals. Representing Nigeria, joined over 11,000 singers from more than 30 countries in Auckland, New Zealand for the largest choral competition, the 2024 World Choir Games,” he wrote.
“Their performance featured ‘Ekiti Medley’ composed by Dr Daniel Olukoya and arranged by @seunowoaje and a host of other compositions.”
