To campaign against domestic violence, actress Mercy Aigbe on Thursday released the video of her bloodied face after she was allegedly battered.
The actress, who shared the video on her Instagram page, had earlier accused estranged husband, Lanre Gentry, of constantly abusing her during their marriage.
She wrote: “Violence is not an option! It is inhumane and shouldn’t be condoned #saynotodomesticviolence #noshameinmypain #speakout. Battery and assault is a crime punishable under the law!.”
The 38-year-old actress had also said that she suffered a head injury as a result of the constant abuse during her marriage.
Although Gentry denied hitting his wife, he was arrested and remanded in Kirikiri prison until he met the bail conditions.
In 2013, the couple, who has been married for seven years, dispelled rumours of infidelity and domestic violence after Gentry was accused of behaving in a violent manner towards the actress whom he allegedly caught in a compromising position.
