Dino Melaye, a former senator representing Kogi west, has accused the Nigerian army of being responsible for the shooting of unarmed #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate on Tuesday.
The protest against police brutality, which started as an opposition against the now-disbanded special anti-robbery squad (SARS) of the police, turned bloody on Tuesday night after men in army uniform opened fire on citizens.
Lives were said to have been lost while many others sustained injuries — but the army denied any involvement in the attack.
Melaye took to his Twitter handle on Saturday to compose a satirical song where he charged the army to confess.
“Na soldiers wey shoot for Lekki, Na soldiers wey shoot for Lekki. Na soldiers wey kill Nigerians; wey kill young people. They must confess. What a country!,” the senator can be heard singing in pidgin English.
“Na army wey shoot for Lekki, Na army wey kill for Lekki. Abomination! For 2023, gentleman no dey. Make una listen. If you want to kill us, kill us make we die. We shall never support you 2023.”

Prior to the shootings, the protesters had maintained their demonstration in Lekki for close to two weeks. But events in the days afterward witnessed a hijack of the movement by hoodlums across some states.
To curb the spread of violence, a 24-hour curfew was announced by the Lagos government on Tuesday.
The violence, however, escalated in several parts of the state with government buildings, private properties, media houses, vehicles destroyed.
